Texas summers truly enhance these whiskeys. They're incredibly dark, reminiscent of light coffee, and surprisingly drinkable below their proof.
Nose: A delightful blend of bright fruit, including dates and cooked apples, mixed with a robust spice blend. You'll detect cinnamon and nutmeg, complemented by oak, creating a mulled wine-like aroma.
Palate: A rich, viscous texture that coats the mouth like velvet. It's like Christmas in a glass – think spiced cookies with a hint of molasses and compost topping. The palate also offers stewed fruits and dates, with a touch of fruit cake and classic Christmas spices, including a hint of star anise.
Finish: The finish brings darker flavors to the forefront, such as tobacco and green matcha tea, along with lingering spices.
